This series makes available several short stories of Guy de Maupassant, the great French master of the short story form. The current title is a selection of three of his stories from the year 1882-1883.

Project Bilingual (A division of Wolf Pup Books) is a continuing project making available great original French writers' texts along with their English translation. This edition, which offers after every original language paragraph its translation, makes both grammar and vocabulary checks as painless as possible. Idiomatic forms that could be overlooked can be easily detected.
Furthermore, large paragraphs have been broken down to much smaller units so that the check is as effortless as possible. We do hope that by reading French writers that defined the language itself or whose work permeated the French culture, you will be able to get the maximum benefit from this language series. About the Author

Guy de Maupassant (5 August 1850 – 6 July 1893) is generally considered to be the greatest French short story writer and one of the form's finest exponents. His stories give the impression of their being constructed efficiently and effortlessly, which is indicative of his great talent in the form. His Boule de Suif, published in 1880, is considered to be his masterpiece. This was followed by short stories such as Deux Amis, Mother Savage, and Mademoiselle Fifi. His most unsettling horror story, Le Horla (1887), was about madness and suicide.
