About the Author

Chris Crilley’s latest book, Didja Know? Cats, is a fun and informative non-fiction book for “cat lovers and inquiring minds of all ages.” Crilley writes what she knows. She is a self-confessed animal lover and has always had more than a cat or two in her life.

Crilley writings began back in 2008 when her daughter, Leah was devouring the books provided to her that were in her grade level. Ms. Crilley requested some upper-level reading to challenge Leah and keep her interested in reading.

Chris and Leah were frustrated that the higher-level books that she was given usually involved, insects, dinosaurs or broken familys dealing with some supernatural oddities. So, Chris began writing mystery/adventures for Leah to satisfy her appetite for reading. Chris had grown up reading classics like Nancy Drew and Trixie Beldon. So, her writings reflected those books that had healthy, happy and strong nuclear families with good moral values.

Crilley’s first book was The Mystery at the Palisades Cabins, A Leah Crandall Mystery. This adventure/mystery features Leah Crandall and her friends and takes place at Palisades Kepler Park in Iowa, a county park that she frequently camped at with her family when she was Leah’s age.
When Leah’s 6-year younger sister, Elle, began reading she wanted a book about her. So, Crilley wrote her second book, The Adventures of Elle Crane: Mission Bahamas. This time the main character is a younger sister named Elle and takes place in the Bahamas where the Crilley family had vacationed from time to time.
Crilley’s third book, Kidnapped, was written after her daughters, niece and nephew encountered a hooded stranger in a parked car next to a playground that they liked to visit. They became frightened when the car slowly followed them as they left the playground.

A lot of research goes into Ms. Crilley’s books. Her books contain facts, true information and real locations that help her readers expand their knowledge.
