Do All Lives Matter?: The Issue We Can No Longer Ignore and Solutions We Long For
Something is wrong in our society. Deeply wrong.

The belief that all lives matter is at the heart of our founding documents - but we must admit that this conviction has never truly reflected reality in America. Movements such as Black Lives Matter have arisen in response to recent displays of violence and mistreatment, and some of us defensively answer back, “All lives matter.” But do they? Really?

This audio book is an exploration of that question. It delves into history and current events, into Christian teaching and personal stories, in order to start a conversation about the way forward. Its raw but hopeful words will help move us from apathy to empathy and from empathy to action.

We cannot do everything. But we can each do something.

JUNE 2017 - AudioFile

Calvin Robinson returns to narrate a John M. Perkins work. This time, Perkins is joined by his good friend, Wayne Gordon. Robinson’s seasoned voice suggests a man who has seen much in the way of race relations through his eight decades of life. You can hear the weariness of this centuries-old problem mixed with the hope of legitimate racial reconciliation because of the gospel and the Imago Dei. The question “Do all lives matter?” is answered with “Only when black lives matter.” What keeps this audio from being perfect is the missed opportunity for a white man to narrate the chapters written by Wayne Gordon, giving the dual viewpoints on race more weight. Regardless, this work deserves listeners’ attention specifically so that they might understand that the solution to racism is never found in politics. T.D. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine
