About the Author

Abraham "Bram" Stoker (1847-1912)was an Irish novelist and short story writer, best known today for his 1897 Gothic novel DRACULA. A sickly child, Stoker was bedridden until the age of seven. Stoker achieved moderate success as a theater critic for a Dublin newspaper, then moved to London in 1879 to manage the Lyceum Theatre, a position he held for 27 years, during which time Stoker composed his most famous works, including DRACULA.
