Vinsantos Defonte, a prominent voice in the national LGBTQ community and founder of New Orleans Drag Workshop, provides the foreword. Wayne Phillips, curator of the Costumes and Textiles and the Carnival Collections of the Louisiana State Museum, details the history of drag and this very special community in New Orleans. Tooker, celebrated host of Louisiana Eats!, provides an epilogue illuminating her entrée and ongoing role in the Crescent City's drag queen world.

A percentage of the proceeds from the sale is dedicated to CrescentCare (NO/AIDS Task Force).

Author, Poppy Tooker brings a large Louisiana Eats! radio and podcast audience into the mix, with over 250,000 listeners monthly. Over 25,000 people watch Tooker weekly on WYES TVs Steppin Out. Her past cookbooks have won a variety of awards, including Best New Cookbook (Crescent City Farmers Market Cookbook, 2007 and Pascals Manale Cookbook, 2018.) Additionally, the Crescent City Farmers Market Cookbook won the Eula Mae Dore Tabasco Cookbook Award (2007) and Louisiana Eats! was given the Literary Award of the Year from the Louisiana Library Association (2013).


Originally from London, New Orleans photographer Sam Hanna began his career in Detroit. He specializes in culinary styling and photography from his studio, Hanna Foto.
