The mismatched cops variation of the buddy comedy genre gets taken out of mothballs for this farce directed by longtime Adam Sandler collaborator Dennis Dugan. Martin Lawrence and Steve Zahn star, respectively, as Earl Montgomery, a loudmouthed police academy reject, and Hank Rafferty, a mild-mannered cop who is disgraced and dismissed from his job. Having met once before on a traffic stop, the two men are less than thrilled to be paired together as security guards. When the two men discover a complex smuggling scheme, however, they put aside their animosity to investigate the criminal scheme. They soon learn that the illegal enterprise involves a mastermind named Nash (Eric Roberts) and a new, virtually indestructible metal that's worth a fortune. Unable to persuade Hank's former police department superiors that they're onto a huge case, the two partners must devise a way to expose the sophisticated scam and bring down Nash on their own. National Security co-stars Colm Feore, Bill Duke, Timothy Busfield, and Wayne Knight.
