Overview

"From the Hollywood vantage point to the view through the lenses of the combat cameramen who risked their lives to film authentic wartime footage, this release from DreamWorks Home Entertainment offers viewers a compelling look at one of the world's most tumultuous battles. Beginning with director Steven Spielberg's critically acclaimed war drama Saving Private Ryan, viewers can see the harrowing toll that battle took on the worn and weary soldiers. The film is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, with sound options including both English and French Dolby Digital 5.1 with optional English, Spanish, and French subtitles. In addition to the feature film, this release of Saving Private Ryan also takes viewers behind the scenes of both the film and the war with such featurettes as ""Looking Into the Past,"" ""Miller and His Platoon,"" ""Boot Camp,"" ""The Making of Saving Private Ryan,"" ""Recreating Omaha Beach,"" and ""Music and Sound."" An introduction and parting words from director Spielberg are also included. After watching Spielberg's take on the war, viewers can revisit the Pacific theater of World War II with the compelling documentary Price for Peace, which was produced by Spielberg and historian Stephen Ambrose. Featuring interviews with Hiroshima mission-pilot Paul Hibbets as well as survivors of Japanese-American internment camps, this insightful release is presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround audio. In addition to offering commentary by respected journalist Tom Brokaw, this disc also offers an introduction to the National D-Day Museum, ""About the War Experience"" with executive producer Stephen E. Ambrose, a National D-Day Museum slide show, ""WWI Dog Handlers,"" and an introduction from Spielberg. Finally, viewers can experience the war through the lens of those on the battlefield with Shooting War: WWII Cameramen. Presented in 1.33:1 full-frame, this feature offers audio rendered in English Dolby Digital Surround."
