Overview

Veggie Tales is an animated kid's video series with a Christian message from Big Ideas. In "The Star of Christmas," Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber star as Dickensian characters Cavis Appythart and Millward Phelps. One night in London, Cavis and Millward are opening their Christmas musical, "The Princess and the Plumber," at the same time as little Edmund's (portrayed by Junior Asparagus) big show.

From the creators of Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie comes the equivalent of a "very special episode" in the faith-based video series. The setting is 1880s London: Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber star as Cavis Appythart and Millward Phelps, who are mounting their first Christmas musical, "The Princess and the Plumber" (complete with the Sugar Plumber Fairy). All they need is a theater, a spectacular display of electric lights, the actress Effie Pickering, a good word from the Crown Prince, and a rhyme for "opossum." The pair soon hears that a church production has been scheduled for the same night, and that it will feature the "Star of Christmas," an artifact not seen in 79 years. "This could affect our attendance a bit," Cavis frets. The misguided duo soon learns that the simple and powerful story of Christmas is best honored with a simple play and that a pageant is not as important as helping people in need. All the hallmarks of this groundbreaking series are in abundance: clever animation, delightful songs, and witty writing. In the words of one character, "It's a pip."
