Mr. Chhotey Lal born February 14, 1939 at Bareilly, obtained his Graduate and Master degrees in Political Science and Library Science respectively from the Agra University (Bareilly College) and the University of Delhi, India. He worked in Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, 1968-72. He served as Reference Librarian at Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) since 1972 to 1989. He served as the Deputy Librarian at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi from 1985-87. He was Head Library Services, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi from 1989 to 1999. He, besides working as Librarian, was also a Faculty Member of the Postgraduate School of IARI, New Delhi for teaching PG students, a course on Agricultural Information System. After retirement, he got engaged himself in social service

as well as the academic activities. He served as Consultant, National Commission on Cattle Protection, Government of India 2001-02; associated with a Trust (VARDAN) - Devoted to serving the poorer & weaker sections of the society as well as professional research and development; Member of Vidyalaya Management Committee (VMC) of a Central School in Delhi; Faculty Member, Delhi Library Association; Counselor of Indira Gandhi National Open University for teaching B.L.I.Sc. courses. Presently he is a Member of Delhi Library Board. He is Life Member of Indian Library Association and Delhi Library Association. To his credit he has published five Books including: Reference Sources in Indian Agriculture and Biology (1975), Information Sources in Science and Technology (1986), Oil Seeds in India-An Overview (1995), Agricultural Libraries & information System-A Handbook for Users (1998), Indian Farming-A Cumulative Index (1950-51 to 2005-06); and 30 articles published in various journals/magazines and Conference Proceedings. He was honored with Best Librarian Award 1999 and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Fellowship 2002.
