Description: This book takes the difficult subject of electrocardiogram interpretation and presents it in a clear, succinct format. This update replaces the 2013 edition.
Purpose: The purpose is to make basic ECG interpretation as easy as possible. The book can be used as a course text or as a resource for those new to reading ECGs.
Audience: All those in healthcare disciplines that require knowledge of ECG interpretation can benefit from this book, including ECG monitor technicians, paramedics, and nursing and medical students. The book is written for those at a beginning level. The author has significant experience in ECG interpretation over many years.
Features: This book provides a logical and clear explanation of interpreting basic ECGs. It starts with the basics of rhythm interpretation and then progresses from the sinus dysrhythmias down to ventricular dysrhythmias. In addition, chapters cover AV block, pacemakers, and basic 12-lead interpretation. The majority of the ECG strips are of sufficient size, making interpretation easier. Colorful visuals, clinical pearls, and textboxes with important chapter information round out the book.
Assessment: This would be a great book for a course on basic ECG interpretation or as a resource for health team members needing additional information that is sufficiently clear and easy to understand.
