About the Author

SIXTEN KORKMAN, Director General at the Council of the EU since 1995, assists the Ecofin Council and the Eurogroup. An economist, he has occupied senior positions in the central bank and the ministry of finance in Finland and at the OECD. Dr Korkman made his dissertation at the University of Helsinki and has published widely on economic policy issues.
