«El alimento de los dioses» y cómo llegó a la Tierra es una novela de ciencia ficción, publicada por primera vez en 1904. Wells la llamó «una fantasía sobre el cambio de escala en los asuntos humanos».
La novela trata sobre un grupo de científicos que inventan un alimento que acelera el crecimiento de los niños y los convierte en gigantes cuando se convierten en adultos.
El libro I comienza con comentarios satíricos sobre «científicos», luego presenta al Sr. Bensington, un químico investigador especializado en «los alcaloides más tóxicos», y al profesor Redwood, quien después de estudiar los tiempos de reacción se interesa en «Crecimiento».

H.G. Wells (1866–1946), born Herbert George Wells, was an English author known for not only his popular science fiction books but also works of social commentary, history and biography.
