Overview

A gentler, more contemplative Nathan Michel and not too off the beaten path so gracefully forged by Lullatone, I Am Robot and Proud's third release continues Shaw-Han Liem's never-ending quest to forge previous melodies with skittering rhythms into melodic compositions that make the Postal Service seem like a death metal band. At 11 tracks in length, the formula pretty much stays the same, but Liem gets the formula down effortlessly every time, working his way through melodies that inspire a nearly adolescent sense of wonder and optimism from start to finish, arranging them in such a way that it's hard to remember that music filled with such emotions emanates from cold machinery. Thankfully, Darla had the good sense to sign Liem, so the problems of finding the record in your local shop shouldn't be as much of a hassle this time around. This is a record that will appeal to not only fans of electronic music, but any of the indie pop that has come out in the past few years. ~ Rob Theakston
