Are you thinking of a sea change or getting out of the Sydney or Melbourne rat race? A change of lifestyle? Retired? A long holiday in the warmth of the Queensland tropics? Time on the Great Barrier Reef? Do you love the water and want to sail? Do you love nature? You are not scared of creepy crawlies? Do you want to escape from city fools, family or friends? Do you want to sit on the balcony and look at the sea with a sundowner by your elbow? Or it's off with the suit and into almost nothing? And you have had a couple of weeks' holiday in Queensland every year and would love to live there? And at long last, you think you can? We went on a long five-year holiday to the Whitsundays as planned and learned a lot. It is different, and there are many pros and cons. These essays were communications with relatives and friends over five years telling them of our fun. They are inspirational and instructional. About the Author

The author holds  a BA(Hons.) and a Grad. Dip. in History from the University of New England and a Master of (Civil) Engineering from the University of New South Wales. He had 20 years experience with the Australian Army during the Vietnam era and was then employed as a Senior Policy and Research Officer with the New South Wales Government.
