About the Author

Jane Hall has been teaching and judging quiltmaking for quilt guilds and conferences for more than twenty years. Her particular love is foundation piecing, and she and her quilting partner, Dixie Haywood, have written several books exploring it. Jane is intrigued by the interaction of colors and fabrics, and the graphics and geometry of quilt designs. She likes to work with traditional patterns, using innovative and contemporary colorations to create new graphics. She feels almost evangelistic about foundation piecing in all its forms, especially Log Cabin, Pineapple, and Mariner's Compass patterns. Jane is a certified quilt teacher, judge, and appraiser. A graduate of Cornell University, she and her husband, Bob, have six grown children and twelve grandchildren. They live in Raleigh, North Carolina, with Tilly, the calico cat.
