About the Author

Dr. Yannis Dionyssiotis is specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He worked as Physiatrist in Greece and Germany in a variety of clinical settings as clinician, researcher, clinical instructor and consultant. He completed his Thesis in Osteoporosis and Body Composition in spinal cord injury related paraplegia in the Laboratory for Research of the Musculoskeletal System at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He also holds a senior European Board Certification in PRM (certified 1/2006, re-certified 1/2016), a Master Thesis in Aging and Chronic Diseases (Hellenic Open University & Medical School, University of Thessaly), Facharztanerkennung in Germany (PRM) and is registered Physician in the UK.
He worked as locum Physiatrist in the Rehabilitation Department of KAT Hospital in Athens and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department in General Hospital of Rhodes, as Medical Director of Rehabilitation Center Amyntaio of Florina General Hospital, as Head of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of European Interbalkan Medical Center in Thessaloniki, as Consultant in PRM Clinic of General University Hospital of Ioannina, as Senior Consultant in the 1st Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in National Rehabilitation Center EKA in Athens in Greece and as Stationsarzt in the Klinik für neurochirourgische-neurologische Frührehabilitation, Westpfalz-Klinikum (Rheinland-Pfalz) and privately as Physiatrist in Munich, in Germany.
On 23rd November 2020 he was elected as Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and since 15th June of 2021 is working in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Clinic at the University of Patras in Greece.
Dr. Dionyssiotis has an extensive list of professional presentations and publications (books, book chapters and papers) in the areas of rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, sarcopenia, frailty, geriatrics, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis and botulinum toxin. He has served as reviewer for several international, pubmed and peer-reviewed journals. He is also Co-Editor in Chief in the pubmed journal of Frailty, Sarcopenia and Falls (JFSF) since 2016.
He supports the STEP-ON Ankle Foot Orthosis product with clinical trials, medical reports and scientifically counselling in international exhibitions and classified the indications and contraindications of the product according to the disease. Moreover, his participation during the construction of the new STEP-ON models improved the clinical outcomes of the orthosis.
He won the Heim Ring Silver award during the 8th Mediterranean Congress of Rehabilitation in Limassol, Cyprus (October 2010), the European Board award in the 16th European Congress of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in Bruges Belgium (June 2008) and the Petros Aposkitis award during the 14th National Rehabilitation Congress, Athens (February 2016). http://publicationslist.org/y.dionyssiotis
