Overview

The novel "Family Happiness" by Leo Tolstoy tells the story of first a young girl's love for her late father's friend, her guardian, and then their marriage and the first few years of their married life, including some cooling and quarrels. "Family Happiness" differs from the writer's other novels in that only the private lives of the characters are considered here without connection with the broader picture of reality. The narration is told in the first person (which is already a very rare case in Tolstoy's works), and from the perspective of a young woman.
