About the Author

Juan Freile has been birding throughout Ecuador over the last 20 years, has published more than 80 bird-related papers and books, and works on a wide array of environmental issues.

Robin Restall is an acclaimed bird artist, whose works include the magisterial Birds of Northern South America (Helm, 2006).
Robin Restall is author and illustrator of several titles on the birds of South America, including the acclaimed Birds of Northern South America (Helm, 2006), and was also author of Munias and Mannikins (Pica Press, 1996).
Juan Freile is an ornithologist based in Ecuador. He has published more than 80 bird-related papers and books, including the Helm field guide Birds of Ecuador with Robin Restall, and works on a wide array of environmental issues. Juan currently acts as chairman of the Committee for Ecuadorian Records in Ornithology, and is managing editor of Cotinga and Revista Ecuatoriana de Ornitologia.
