Undercover FBI agent Isabel "Angie" D'Angelo is investigating a crime syndicate that might have expanded recently into human trafficking. Gentleman's club manager Julian Parisi runs a tight ship, but the owner has shady business practices—and partners—threatening to sink his operation. Neither is sure that they can trust the other, but attraction pulls them together. VERDICT Miles ("Christmas at the Carlisles" series) has written a solid novel that touches on some societal issues facing vulnerable populations. Some of the plot's secrets may not be that much of a surprise when revealed to readers, and some of its action scenes are a bit over the top, but many will find this to be a strong addition to the Harlequin Intrigue line.
