Overview

Whether you are a pilgrim, Bible student, or intending tourist, this is quite a different book about the Holy Land. It is a reflective travelogue written as a journal of an in-depth study tour and is a remarkable treasury of encounters, conversations, discussions, observations, and analyses of biblical and current events in Israel from Dan in the north to Beersheba in the south. Added to that is the author's thrilling account of a bicycle safari through the Jordanian desert to Petra, culminating in a hike up Mount Sinai!

What People are Saying About This

From the Publisher

“I was a fellow traveler with Bruce on four of the five weeks he will take you through in these chapters. Every page of this book brings the experience—the sights, the atmospheres, the people—back to life vividly and authentically, as though the trip finished yesterday. And it will connect you with the insights of some of the world’s finest teachers who live today in the land of the Bible.”

—James Spanner, retired Church of England vicar, St Albans diocese

“You will enjoy reading this, and you will learn a good deal, and it will make you ask some hard questions. Bruce Ritchie is the ideal travel guide: inquisitive, patient, sympathetic. And he is the perfect companion round the lands of the Bible, steeped as he is in the scriptural backgrounds which he encounters as he moves around. Conversations sparkle on every page: he manages to get the best out of those he meets.

—Andrew R. C. McLellan, former Moderator, the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland

“Get your atlas out and prepare to be transported to parts of Israel and Jordan where most tour companies don’t take you. Get your heart and mind ready to receive fascinating new insights into history, theology, and culture as you travel with Bruce and his companions through the Holy Land and cycle with them (and me!) down through Jordan to Aquaba. An exhilarating journey!”

—Robin Brodie, retired Lawyer, Banchory, Scotland
