About the Author

Buddy Baker began racing cars at age eighteen until the early ’90s. Best known for his record-breaking speed in the 1980 Daytona 500, he eventually became a NASCAR color commentator for TNN Motorsports. He currently helps run the Buck Baker Racing School in Rockingham, North Carolina.

David Poole was a motorsports writer for the Charlotte Observer for twelve years, traveling around the country more than thirty weekends a year covering NASCAR’s top series and teams. He also wrote several books on NASCAR, including Tim Richmond: The Fast and Remarkable Times of NASCAR’s Top Gun. He passed away in 2009.
