Drs. Guhl, Parisien, and Boynton have prepared a third edition of this successful volume, heretofore published by Slack (who no longer publishes books on orthopaedic surgery, only journals). The editors have invited a prestigious group of contributors, including such stellar names in the field as Ferkel, Lundeen, Tasto, etc. The new edition will address the most recent and valuable developments in foot and ankle arthroscopy, including the practical applications of instrumentation and technique in the clinical setting.

Unique to this book are the imaging techniques, laser surgery, mid-foot arthroscopy, and most importantly - endoscopic surgery of the ankle and foot. Sections and chapters on anatomy, differential diagnosis, soft tissue pathology, rehabilitation, and again, unique to this volume, office and outpatient arthroscopy make this a comprehensive reference.

This is a comprehensive reference text of current diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle conditions by arthroscopy. The purpose of this book is to report the author's experiences with arthroscopy of the foot and ankle. This book is written for orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists. Specialists in sports medicine will also find this book appealing. All authors are considered "expert" by national reputation. With a few exceptions, the book is well illustrated. The color photographs are particularly good in their illustration of pathology, technique, and anatomy. The book is well organized by individual diseases and techniques are complemented by historical analogies. This very enjoyable book should find a home in every departmental or hospital library. It is the necessary reference for the novice and experienced ankle arthroscopist.

Revised from Ankle Arthroscopy: Pathology and Surgical Techniques (ca. 1988), explains all aspects of diagnostic and surgical arthroscopy of the ankle, as well as the use of the technique in legal cases involving industrial accidents. The topics range from the history of the technique and the basics of the relevant anatomy and radiologic imaging, through instrumentation and arthroscopy for specific conditions and places, to postoperative care and the role of arthroscopy in the foot-and-ankle practice.
