About the Author

Dr. S.A. Ansari is Scientist “E” and Head, Genetics and Plant Propagation Division, Tropical Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur. Dr. Ansari obtained M.Sc. (Gold Medal) and Ph.D. in Botany (Plant Physiology) from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He has won several laurels for his research contribution and science popularization that include R.D. Asana Gold Medal and Young Scientists’ Award by Indian Society for Plant Physiology, Merit Certificate and Cash Award by Indian Botanical Society, MAAS Best Published Paper Award and Cash Prize, ICFRE (Silviculture) Cash Award by Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and CPS-Tahzibul Akhlaque Prize by Centre for Presentation of Science. He possesses 26 years of research experience in the field of crop improvement, clonal forestry and phytohormonal regulation of crop / tree metabolism. He has published 60 research papers / review articles / popular science articles in national and international journals. Dr. Ansari has been editing Indian Journal of Tropical Biodiversity since 2001 and is co-editor of the book “Genetics and Silviculture of Teak”. He attended 25 scientific conference / symposia in India and abroad. He is a recipient of FAO fellowship to undertake advance research on molecular biology of adventitious rhizogenesis at Monash University, Clayton, Australia and has been elected Fellow of Indian Botanical Society.
