About the Author

Shoba Premkumar is a Teaching Professor at Ivy College of Business, Iowa State University (ISU). Shoba has been teaching finance courses at ISU since 2003. She holds a BS degree in Accounting from University of Madras, India, and an MBA from Iowa State University. As a finance instructor, her objective is to develop and teach the courses in a manner that enables students to master the basic concepts, encourage critical thinking, solve problems systematically, and gain a good understanding of the real-world financial environment. Shoba is dedicated to promoting financial literacy among students and the community and organized free financial literacy seminars for ISU students, staff, and community in 2009 after the US financial crisis. She has also developed Honors Seminar Classes on Money Management and Entrepreneurship featuring prominent financial professionals and successful entrepreneurs as guest speakers. Shoba has received several awards for excellence in teaching and service, such as the Business Council Teacher of the Month and Faculty Superior Service awards from Ivy College of Business.
