About the Author

Dr Wasakha Singh Dhillon Has Significantly Contributed In The Field Of Education, Research And Extension In Horticultural Sciences. He Did His Graduation In Agriculture, Masters And Doctorate In Horticulture From Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. Dr Dhillon Has Served In The University In Various Capacities Starting From Assistant Professor To Professor In The Department Of Fruit Science, PAU, Ludhiana. He Also Served As Director, Fruit Research Station, Gangian; Director, Punjab Horticultural Postharvest Technology Centre, PAU Campus, Ludhiana And Presently Working As Assistant Director General, Horticulture, ICAR, New Delhi. Dr Dhillon Has Immensely Contributed In Horticulture Education And Taught More Than 160 Credit Hours At All Levels From B Sc, M Sc To Ph D, And Guided 11 M Sc And 4 Ph D Students. He Has Already Written 2 Books Namely 'Fruit Tree Physiology' And 'Impact Of Climate Change On Fruit Crops', 5 Practical Manuals For UG And PG Students, And Edited 4 Full Proceedings. Dr Dhillon Has Also Made Remarkable Contributions In Horticulture Research In The Field Of Crop Improvement, Plant Propagation, Agro-Horti-Techniques And Post- Harvest Technology. His Scientific Contributions Led To The Development Of 10 Varieties, 1 Rootstock And 25 Recommendations On Different Fruit Crops, Which Are Included In The Package Of Practices For Fruit Crops Of PAU, Ludhiana. He Was Principal Investigator Of 4 Adhoc Research Projects And Has Published 120 Original Research Papers In National And International Journals, 16 Book Chapters, 4 Review Papers, And 1 echnical Bulletin. He Has Organized 2 National Level Seminars As Organizing Secretary And Conducted 21 Days Summer School As Course Director, And Also Attended More Than 46 National And International Seminars. Dr Dhillon Was Nominated As Member QRT Of Directorate Of Cropping Systems, Modipuram Meerut By ICAR. He Was Also Member Of The Institutional Research Council, CARI, Port Blair. For His Outstanding Achievements In Teaching And Research, He Was Awarded With Meritorious Teacher Award Of PAU (2010), SGS Nihal Singh Wala Award (2010); Shri Hans Raj Pahwa Award (2006) By PAU, Fellowship Of Horticultural Society Of India (2007), And Shri GL Chadha Memorial Gold Medal By Horticultural Society Of India (2006). Apart From Research And Academics, Dr Dhillon Was Also An Outstanding Athlete Of PAU During His Student's Days. He Was Best Athlete Of The University And Ludhiana District, And Won Many Positions At University, District, State, And Open National Level Competitions.
