Overview

This is the only publication available that presents a state-of-the-art discussion of franchise laws and practices in Canada.

This invaluable resource is a welcome update to the first edition published in 2004. At that time, there were only two Canadian provinces with franchise laws. Now, six of the ten Canadian provinces have franchise laws. In addition, because of the continuing growth of franchise laws, the number of reported cases has increased, leading to new interpretation of the provincial franchise statutes, and additional franchise disclosure obligations.

Completely revised and reorganized, Fundamentals of Franchising - Canada is a must-have deskbook that provides the practical tips, useful definitions and the expert advice you need to counsel clients who intend to expand into the Canadian marketplace. Written specifically to help lawyers and non-lawyers brush up on Canadian franchise law, this practical guide outlines a host of important differences and similarities when comparing the business, law and practice of franchising in Canada and the United States. Giving you the information to recognize and respect the differences and take advantage of the similarities, it also includes practice notes throughout the book, highlighting key points and recommendations.
