"G is for Gullah" is a book that teaches children the alphabet while educating them about Gullah Geechee culture. But it is more than just a Gullah-themed children's book. It is about #GrowingUpGullah and the principle of Sankofa, which means to bring forward that which is useful from the past. The illustrations inside this book not only feature members of Dr. Ebony Allen Toussaint's family, but also their time-honored traditions. This book is dedicated to the matriarch of the author's family, her grandmother, Martha. All proceeds benefit Gullah Geechee cultural preservation efforts and support for educational opportunities among Gullah Geechee high school students pursuing college degrees in the health professions or biomedical sciences.
