About the Author

Gale Gand is a James Beard Award–winning pastry chef. Gand is executive pastry chef and co-owner of the world-renowned Chicago restaurant Tru. She also is consulting pastry chef and partner of Cenitare Restaurants, LLC, which encompasses Osteria di Tramonto, Tramonto’s Steak and Seafood, and RT Lounge, all in the Chicago area. The host of Sweet Dreams, Food Network’s first daily show devoted to baking, she is the author of numerous cookbooks, including Gale Gand’s Just a Bite and Chocolate and Vanilla.

Food writer Julia Moskin is the coauthor of Gale Gand's Short and Sweet, and is also the coauthor of American Brasserie and Bistro Latino by Rafael Palomino. She was the weekly restaurant critic for Microsoft's sidewalk.com in New York City, and has contributed articles to Saveur, Metropolitan Home, and other magazines.

Her newest collection offers easy recipes that require 45 minutes or less "hands-on" time, beginning with those that take only 15 minutes. And although the recipes are generally simple, they are still sophisticated and imaginative: Roasted Apricots with Bay Leaf and Broiled Sugar Brioche, for example, and Chocolate Coconut Macaroon Pies.
