Purpose: The purpose of the book, and the series, is to provide an easy-to-use resource for both general study and quick reference. Having the on-the-go option makes it more accessible than others with only a print version, thus enhancing delivery of the information.
Audience: Medical students and trainees in primary care make up the intended audience for this series. The information is of appropriate detail for junior doctors and the book is an adequate resource for these readers. Written by physicians for physicians, the information is relevant to clinical practice.
Features: This book covers the basic principles of physiology, pathology, and diagnosis/treatment of commonly seen gastrointestinal disorders. Particularly useful is the self-assessment portion, which serves as a good review of the board-relevant material in gastroenterology and can be used during both dedicated review time and down time during a busy workday.
