English summary: The church service of a congregation gathered in the name of Jesus Christ is collective prayer. This collective prayer always takes on a certain form and always has an effect. But what does the form of the liturgy amount to and what is its effect? In how far can a collectively celebrated mass be influential to the life of the individual, the community, or the whole Church in the long run? The contributors to this volume discuss these central questions surrounding the liturgy in dialogue with different confessional traditions. Among others, the Anglican Church is represented, having celebrated the 350th anniversary of its liturgy, the 'Book of Common Prayer', in 2012.
