¿Cómo será la gestación de los seres humanos dentro de cien o doscientos años?
Hay quien sostiene que las relaciones sexuales tienen los días contados, y que en el futuro toda la reproducción humana se llevará a cabo en los laboratorios. También hay quien afirma que la duración del embarazo se irá reduciendo conforme mejore la tecnología de los úteros artificiales y que, cuestión de tiempo, la vida humana se concebirá y desarrollará sin que la estancia uterina sea condición sine qua non. Tal vez haya que empezar a reflexionar acerca de cómo estamos criando a los humanos del futuro empezando por cómo los concebimos y gestamos.
El embarazo, el fabuloso proceso de gestar, requiere una mirada amplia en la que necesariamente debemos tener en cuenta varias perspectivas: la de la madre que gesta, la del ser humano que se está gestando, y la de la familia y la comunidad que los acompaña y espera.
Ibone Olza nos invita a recorrer y repensar algunos de estos puntos de nuestra historia, con curiosidad y asombro, pero también desde una perspectiva crítica y científica. Así como a imaginar una sociedad que honre y celebre el embarazo y a las embarazadas, que en definitiva es lo mismo que el amor y la vida.

But before speculating about how the babies of the future will be created, it’s important to understand the process of human conception and gestation.
Pregnancy, the incredible process of gestation, must be approached from a variety of perspectives: those of the gestating mother, the child being gestated, and the families and communities that welcome and support them.
