Una Belle Townsend has been an elementary-school teacher for more than twenty years. She graduated from East Texas Baptist College and acquired her master’s degree in elementary education at Stephen F. Austin State University. She has received many local honors for her short stories and poetry. Her other works include
The Oklahoma Land Run and
The Great Elephant Escape. She has lived in Yukon for more than twenty-five years.
Bob Artley (1917-2011) was the celebrated illustrator of more than ten books. His career began more than fifty years ago as an editorial cartoonist. He spent most of his time with the Des Moines Tribune and the Worthington (Minnesota) Daily Globe. In retirement, he devoted most of his time to children’s books. He wrote and illustrated Once Upon a Farm, Memories of a Farm Kitchen, Christmas on the Farm, Living With Pigs, and Step Up!, also published by Pelican.
