Mikhail Bulgakov's novel "The Master and Margarita" had different names in different years: "Black Magician", "Engineer's Hoof", "Grand Chancellor", "Prince of Darkness", "Novel of the Devil"… Only at the end of 1937 the work was named The Master and Margarita. The Grand Chancellor is one of the first editions. According to critics, the writer wanted to write about the devil, but God did not allow it to happen.
