Description: This book contains just the right amount of detail for undergraduate medical education given that anatomy courses are short, yet highly technical. The format covers the human body regionally, like most other anatomy texts. The website is essentially an ebook copy of the printed version. The hyperlinking makes it easy to toggle between images seamlessly. This third edition book follows the typical four- to five-year new edition cycle common in publishing.
Purpose: The objective of the book is to educate undergraduate medical and allied health students in a regional anatomy course. The regular publication of new editions over the past 10 years marks this book's success. The ebook version will be popular with students as the index works much better online, as does linking images to the text.
Audience: While any medical or allied health professional will benefit from this book, it is primarily aimed at the vast undergraduate professional student body studying basic anatomy and it fills this role proficiently. The authors are highly credible in their fields, including a radiologist who has provided excellent radiological images in the text.
Features: This latest edition organizes the material into clinical and imaging apps and surface anatomy boxes, which enhances the text. The large, clear images throughout the book are not overly labeled, making this feature an effective learning tool for students.
Assessment: Students will appreciate this book as it enters its third edition. It clearly meets its intended audience squarely in the area of usefulness. With its continued enhancements, this third edition is a worthy upgrade.
