The book is about my journey of finding God, and learning how to be a friend to myself. It begins and is set in a facility called the Trusty Camp, which is part of the women's Texas Department of Criminal Justice system.
In my youth, I never imagined that i would go to prison. I had a nice family, went to college, worked in my chosen field, and assumed that my life would take a natural course. But, for addiction. Addiction began subtly with alcohol and occassionally pills. This begining grew into an attachment to the powerful consumption of crack cocaine. I lost meny things. My drug addiction was fueled by the need for money, leading me to commit financial crimes with serious consequences.
in despair, I reached out. What I found was the unconditional love of Christ along with his consuming mercy. Life as I knew it, began to change. I was assigned a job as Tractor Driver, which afforded me a sense of the outdoors and something beyond prison walls as I drove unit to unit, collecting trash. There were joys and mishaps. All of which I have attempted to record and share just exactly what I learned through those experiences.
it is meant to be read as a memoir or even incorporated as a daily devotional. It is my wish for those who read it, to be moved to always remember that there is Hope!
