Overview

Ham's Christmas Communion is the story of a farmer who has become embittered, selfish and isolated from his community following the death of his wife many years earlier. Just before Christmas a strange dog comes to his doorstep.

Ham is angered by this and takes the dog several miles away and releases him. But on Christmas eve, the dog comes back again and gets entangled in the fence by the farm pond.

In releasing the dog from the fence and taping up his wounded legs, a renewed impulse for community enters Ham's spirit, prompting him to go to the late night communion service at the church where his cold heart is melted.
