About the Author

HUGH COMPSTON is Senior Lecturer and Director of Politics in the School of European Studies, Cardiff University, and Convenor of the Standing Group on Comparative Political Economy of the European Consortium for Political Research. His major publications include Beyond Corporatism: A Configurational Theory of Policy Concentration, in European Journal of Political Research 42(6), October 2003; Social Partnership in the 1990s: The West European Experience in Historical Perspective (edited with Stefan Berger, 2002) ; and The New Politics of Unemployment: Radical Policy Initiatives in Western Europe (editor, 1996).
