Hans Dahl Painter
Romanticism in art was a European movement towards the end of the 18th century advocating subjectivity, imagination and the reverence for Nature. Romanticists favoured a moral outlook known as individualism. Individualism again promoted realizing one's own goals and desires, valuing independence and self-reliance.
The Norwegian Hans Dahl (19 February 1849 – 27 July 1937) was a famous painter of Romanticism. He moved to Germany and his art became associated with the Düsseldorf school of painting, which was characterized by finely detailed and romantic landscapes.
His vibrant colors and charming portrayals of pretty young Norwegian peasant girls in their national costume and sometimes in slightly suggestive situations have always been very popular.
We include examples of other Romaticism, Modernism and Academic art.
We hope the readers will enjoy this selection of romantic art work.
