The authors have compiled a brilliant third edition of this textbook. This completely reworked edition will serve as the classic reference in the field of head and neck radiology for the foreseeable future. The two-volume text is subdivided into six major anatomic regions, including the midface and sinonasal cavities, mandible and temporomandibular joints, upper aerodigestive tract, neck, orbit and visual pathways, and skull base and temporal bone. The authors set out to create a comprehensive reference text in head and neck radiology. They thoroughly succeeded in their quest. This field has grown rapidly during the last 10 years and desperately needed such a reference text. Although organized by major anatomic areas, the book has a great deal of material on embryology, anatomy, clinical context, and histopathology in addition to the massive amount of radiologic information inherent to its pages. As a result of its comprehensive nature, its appeal will reach beyond the obvious neuroradiology and general radiology community into the ranks of otolaryngology-head and neck surgeons. The book is evenly balanced between text and images. Most of the images are excellent except where rare examples are shown from the earlier imaging days. References are ample and up-to-date. The table of contents is complete. The inclusion of many original new drawings with many classic old illustrations from the embryology and anatomy literature is a unique and powerful feature of this book. This valuable new book will serve as the classic reference text in the field for some time to come. Its reorganization into six major anatomic regions, new author crew, and excellent new and classic drawings mixedwith a strong set of CT and MR images creates a unique, user-friendly text. Radiology group libraries, neuroradiologists, and otolaryngology-head and neck surgeons should all greatly benefit from having access to consultations from such a powerful encyclopedic tome.
