The first two sections cover applied imaging fundamentals and general pathology, pathophysiology, patterns of disease, and natural history of head and neck disorders correlated with imaging appearance. Subsequent sections focus on specific anatomic regions. The text covers all current imaging modalities, including plain film, MRI, CT, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine including PET. A companion website will offer the fully searchable text and images. The first two sections will be online only. The website will also include imaging protocols and bonus cases.

Description: This is a hybrid of a print and online book covering the entire scope of head and neck radiology. The first 43 chapters appear in the online version only, with the remaining 179 chapters appearing both in the two-volume book and on the website.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide the most comprehensive, current reference on head and neck radiology, covering every disorder in every region of the head and neck. This is a worthy goal, and the authors appear to have been quite successful.
Audience: The audience includes anyone who cares for patients with head and neck disease, including ENT surgeons, neuroradiologists, oncologists, primary care physicians, fellows, residents, and students. The book will be useful to even the most specialized physicians in the field, while it is written and illustrated in a manner that can be understood by students. The authors are recognized experts in the field of head and neck radiology with a wealth of clinical experience.
Features: The 43 online chapters begin with applied imaging fundamentals, which include the strengths of various modalities, imaging protocols, and artifacts, and go on to cover general pathology and disease patterns which are common to many spaces in the head and neck, such as infectious and inflammatory disorders, benign tumors, malignant tumors, and systemic disease. The chapters in the two print volumes are arranged in anatomic sections and then divided into common pathologic and clinical conditions. The outstanding case images reproduce well and the illustrations are clear and easy to comprehend. The references are current, and the index is very helpful.
Assessment: This is the most complete reference on head and neck imaging available to my knowledge, and the authors should be commended for this worthy contribution. I believe it deserves a place on the bookshelf in any medical library. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in imaging of the head and neck.
