Overview

“The horror! The horror!”

These are the final words spoken by Mr. Kurtz in Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness,” the story of a man who travels into the jungle to seek his fortune and who instead finds an all-consuming moral and spiritual wilderness. Conrad’s tale of the darkness that festers in the heart of the civilized is one of the most enduring works of twentieth-century literature and a touchstone for many later works of fiction inspired by its somber theme. This collection of Conrad’s best fiction includes an additional five tales of the land and sea and the intrepid men who adventure upon them.

Heart of Darkness and Other Stories is one of Barnes & Noble's Collectible Editions classics. Each volume features authoritative texts by the world's greatest authors in exquisitely designed foil-stamped binding, with distinctive colored edging and a silk-ribbon bookmark.
