Overview

This book came about because our 10-year-old son wanted to end his life without any warning or any writing on the wall. It was this revelation and many more that compelled our family into action. I wrote this book with an extremely personal and candid approach because I believe that if others can benefit from our journey, I need to show the good, the bad, and the downright painful.

This book is for anyone who loves a person who has autism spectrum disorder (ASD), anxiety, or depression. It is my hope that this book will increase your awareness and understanding of the autism spectrum and that it will bring much-need healing and hope.

The world needs this message: All around us are people who are hurting, and we can help. Some who struggle with ASD may not be able to communicate their feelings, and they desperately need a voice. Their loved ones may not be aware of the high risk of depression and anxiety associated with ASD. But working together, we can help—we can be their voice!

About the Author

Jon Locke is originally from Houston, Texas; he and his beautiful wife Michele and three of their five children currently live near Austin, Texas. He has also been blessed with two beautiful grandsons. Jon earned a BA in religion from Liberty University and an MA in biblical counseling from Luther Rice College and Seminary. He is pursuing his doctorate degree in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is near and dear to his heart because his son Keegan has been diagnosed with ASD, and so has he. Thus, Jon has a unique perspective that many—even in the medical and counseling field—do not because he has lived it every day of his life. But it wasn’t till his son shared some startling revelations that he knew he had to write this book.
