About the Author

Mark E. Martin graduated magna cum laude from Western Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in history. He then took a master's degree with a concentration in archival enterprise, specializing in photographic archives, from the University of Texas at Austin's Graduate School of Library and Information Science.
For the past 18 years, he has worked as an archivist and has been actively involved with the archival profession at the local, state, regional, and national levels, including serving as chair of the Society of American Archivists' Visual Materials Section. He is the editor of Andrew D. Lytle's Baton Rouge: Photographs, 1863-1910, published 2008.
