About the Author

Myron Vallier has worked for more than seven years as librarian cataloging visual materials for photoswest.org, the web site for the Denver Public Library's Western History and Genealogy Department. During this time he has developed a great appreciation for the photographers and photography of the American West.
Myron was raised in Taos, New Mexico, and took an early interest in the arts. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Caracas, Venezuela, as a social worker and counselor, and once ran an antique business. With advanced degrees in history and library science, he has worked as a librarian in academic, public, and state libraries.
Myron lives in Conifer, Colorado, located in the foothills outside Denver, with a friend and Forrest, a large husky.

What People are Saying About This

Ian Thomas Healy

"There's something magical about black and white photos, because they don't make them anymore. They're anachronisms in our post-modern digital age, and that gives them a certain elusive, magical quality that can't really be experienced through a computer screen. It requires a more primitive media, one without hyperlinks, music files, and basically everything else that brings you back to my blog post after post. It requires a book.

[Historic Photos of Denver] shows you a window into that history, where you can see pictures of buildings that you'd never believe were once in Denver, of people who've long since passed on, but still smiled for the camera, loved, laughed, and lived, all the choice charms of the Queen City of the Plains.

If Turner has lavished this kind of attention on all their Historic Photos series of books, then I would definitely recommend one for your self, or as a gift."--(Ian Thomas Healy, author of Perpetual Writer's Blog)
