Donald J. Johnson is a lifelong Madison resident, a graduate of East High School and of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a senior editor and heads communications at the UW-Madison Libraries. He has been a professional writer and editor throughout his career. He has also worked in public broadcasting and taught news writing, advertising, and social science research methods. Much of his work has been in magazine editing, starting in New York at McGraw-Hill and later starting magazines at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Beloit College, and the UW-Madison. He has been a partner with his wife in Johnson & Johnson Consulting since 1994. Johnson is president of the Wisconsin Center for the Book, an affiliate of the Library of Congress.
