PreS-Gr 1—A small girl sees a dog in some fog…or is it a dog? The girl tracks her thinking with simple, short words, making it easy for beginning readers to follow along and make connections. The book provides a note to caregivers, complete with tips, and a list of early sight words used in the book is included in the back. Bea uses simple sentences that match the visual cues provided by Franko. The entire text is limited to 50 words or less. The only downside is the fact that many new readers may not be familiar with the word hog, but it will be clear enough from context.
