Overview

Horrible Harry's best friend, Doug, knows how much Harry loves "slimy things, hairy things, and creepy things." In Room 2B, the two classmates find plenty of exciting things to study and enjoy. Leave it to Harry, though, to always find something horrible to explore. This winter, the most horrible thing of all happens to Harry. As he watches a girl in his class feed liver to her pet water frog, Harry falls in love! Soon Harry's behavior begins to change, and Doug worries, will Harry stop being horrible for good? Join Horrible Harry, Doug, and the other students in Room 2B on five unforgettable and hilarious adventures. Who will survive The Deadly Snowdown, and what is The Red Foil Gift? After listening to Johnny Heller's spirited narration, young readers will be looking for more stories about Harry and his friends.

Editorial Reviews

OCT/NOV 06 - AudioFile

[Editor’s Note: The following is a combined review with HORRIBLE HARRY AND THE MUD GREMLINS.]--Johnny Heller convincingly slips inside Kline’s wonderful cast of third-grade characters. In HORRIBLE HARRY’S SECRET, Harry’s best friend, Doug, is slightly sickened by Harry’s crush on classmate Song Lee, whom Harry showers with attention, notes, and gifts. In THE MUD GREMLINS, Harry worries Doug by persuading others to break school rules to examine mushrooms growing five yards off school property. Heller’s energetic, boyish voice treasures the wonderful details in Kline’s writing that make her depictions of school life so realistic. In Heller’s voice we hear the disgust Doug feels over Harry’s crush and his concern about breaking school rules. Heller relishes what he reads, and his delight in the stories is quite contagious.
