Overview

This particular ebook was inspired by a post I wrote on InkwellEdiorial.com, my freelance writing blog, entitled 10 Types of Digital Freelance Writing Jobs: They’re "Hot" and They Pay Well (full post is pasted within).

This entry sparked a lot of interest from readers. For example, one commentor wrote:

Great post Yuwanda! Lots of good ideas to expand our reach, and a couple I had not considered, like ebook editing and writing special reports. Any thoughts on what type of marketing works best to find people who need this service?
###

As self-publishing is growing, I foresee a need for ebook writing services growing right along with it. And this type of editorial work can pay very well. Proof?

The least amount I’ve earned from an ebook writing / editing project is probably around $300. The most is around $1,600 for a 10-page ebook on social media for a client.

I’ve given out ebook estimates for as much as $5,000; most of my estimates have fallen in the $1,000 to $3,000 range for ebooks that are anywhere from 5 to 40 pages long.

As you can see, ebook writing can be very lucrative. Hence, I thought I’d share my experiences and thoughts on how to go about finding this type of work.

Following is a complete Table of Contents.

About the Author

My name is Yuwanda Black and I'm a freelance writer, author and web entrepreneur.

I've been a freelance writer since 1993, an ebook writer/publisher since 2004 and an internet marketer since 2008.

TRAVELING FREELANCE WRITER

My primary residence is in Atlanta, but I live part time in Jamaica (Negril). I visited for the first time in 2009 and started going back on a regular basis. After so many trips (and so many expensive hotels) I thought, "It's cheaper to rent."

So I did!

THE THING I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT MY CAREER

The thing I love the most about being a writer is that it allows me to live and work where I please. As long as I have an internet connection, I'm good to go.

I've worked everywhere from a hotel room in Barcelona, Spain; to a cafe in Stockholm, Sweden; to a farm house in Cordoba, Argentina. As far as work, I feel like the luckiest girl alive most days.

THE THING I LOVE THE MOST ABOUT BEING AN EBOOK WRITER/SELF PUBLISHER

In a phrase, "income stability." As long as I can write (ie, produce new products), I can make a living. How much I earn is entirely up to me. Thanks to places like Barnes and Noble, you don't have to be famous to make a living as a writer.

RUNNING, RUNNING, RUNNING!

I'm also a marathon runner. I've completed over half a dozen marathons as of spring 2012. I'm always training for the next one. One of the most fun ones was the half-marathon in Negril, Jamaica in December 2011.

LIFE PHILOSOPHY

Just do it! (As a runner, of course Nike's philosophy fits who I am :-)).
