Overview

We have seen an exponential increase in the number of investments made by Middle Eastern investors over the last two years (beginning in mid-2020). The region's growing economy and affluent population have prompted Arab investors to make substantial domestic and international (mostly in the United States and Europe) investments.

The GCC countries are well aware of the finite nature of their nonrenewable resources; and, they have taken steps to diversify their economies away from crude oil earnings to the point that their 2030 Vision is centered on this primary objective.

As a result, they have implemented a series of reforms and strategies to position themselves appropriately to be able to compete in the technology, tourism and investment sectors. The new regulations and reforms are intended to attract more international businesses and to make the region more conducive to western expectations mainly through the establishment of "free zones" which have laws distinct from the rest of the country. This new vision and fast-track reforms have spawned new initiatives and opportunities which are spurring western corporations to compete for Middle Eastern markets.

Due to the high volume of inquiries and the scarcity of sophisticated sources in this domain, I was determined to develop this book in order to inform western entrepreneurs about Middle Eastern business practices. This book serves as a comprehensive guide for entrepreneurs seeking to secure funding for their new ventures through engagement with Middle Eastern investors as well as for those established businesses interested in expanding their footprint in the Middle East region.

I discuss the cultural characteristics of the Middle East; business norms and behaviors; negotiation methods, tactics and best practices; localization considerations; best pitching strategies; and, much more.
