I am my father's son
Last year, I lost both of my parents. My father passed away after several years of long struggle with energy, breathing, and various heart issues. A few months later, my mother passed when she was involved in a nasty car crash.

Losing your parents is never easy.
Losing both in less than six months is ridiculously hard.
Even with the greatest of faith, learning to live in light of their passing is something that will take many months to process.

Though both of my parents deserve this kind of attention, this small book is focused on my father.

I am my father’s son.

In the most Biblical of ways, I am proud of that fact.

What I hope to accomplish here is three fold:

I hope to tell lots of folks about my father’s amazing life.
I want to celebrate what he passed on to me.
I want to honor Sam and encourage others to honor their father.

I didn’t wake up this morning with this plan, but as I sat and drank my coffee, it just seemed like the proper task to undertake.

Thanks for undertaking it with me.

About the Author

Gordon is first and foremost thankful that Jesus is gracious. Jesus’ goodness is enough for Him. Jesus’ death is enough for Him, and Jesus’ resurrection is enough for him. Those things have enabled him to do a few things.

Gordon is happily married to Amy, and they have three daughters: Meredith, Landry, and Emma. All of them give him great joy.

Secondarily, he is a graduate of East Carolina University and Reformed Theological Seminary. He won awards as a high school teacher, and then realized that God was calling him to a larger classroom: the world and the church.

He has been an elder in the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) since 2000 and planted Sovereign King Church in Garner, NC in 2005. In 2013, Gordon and his family have embarked on another adventure of planting a new church in Spotsylvania, VA. Find out more about those things at www.evidentgrace.com or www.jgordonduncan.com.

He is thankful for his parents: Thom and Ann Duncan.
